The Pride Alliance collaborated with PRIDENTON and OUTreach Denton to close another successful months of Pride events in June. There was a virtual performance showcase with Spiderweb Salon, a Disability Pride Panel with the Disability Inclusion Society, and the OUTreach Denton 10th Anniversary Celebration at Harvest House: OUTreach for the Stars.
However, one of our events that has continued since our first Pride celebration in 2017, holds a special place in our hearts. Pride Path Chalking, a family and youth centered event, took place on Saturday, June 12th, from 8 a.m. - 10 a.m. Avoiding the worst of the day’s high temperatures, families gathered from Denton, Dallas, Forth Worth, and surrounding areas, to create colorful Pride messages in chalk on the sidewalks of Oakland Street and E. Hickory Street in Denton. There were over 25 separate murals and messages and the event had the largest turnout thus far of more than 50 people. We are excited to continue this event next year and hopefully be able to safely gather again for all in-person events!
