The UNT Food Pantry as Presented by Kroger is committed to addressing food and housing insecurity among our student body. This week, we are observing Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Month, and as our Campus Monthly Sponsors, we are inviting you to join us! On November 17th, The Dean of Students is asking departments to join us in a symbol of our care, commitment, and solidarity with our students by participating in Go Orange Day. Orange is the color associated with hunger and homelessness awareness, which is an issue that affects our local community. According to the College & University Food Bank Alliance, 30% of college students in the United States are experiencing food insecurity. Of that 30%, 56% of food-insecure students are working, 75% of food-insecure students receive financial aid through their institutions, and 43% have a meal plan. This has an adverse impact on a student’s ability to show up as their full selves, ready to learn, to lead, and to participate in their community. On November 17th, the Dean of Student’s office will be wearing orange and changing all our social media for a day. We invite you to join us by posting these poster your social media and sharing images of your team wearing orange, while using hashtag #GoOrangeUNT. We want to see your pictures, so you can tag us on our social media profiles, which are included below. We’d love to have you all join us in our community wellness efforts!
